Working at DESS

All staff working at DESS play an important and active role in the continuous development of the School and have an input into our School Development Plans. Likewise, DESS invests heavily in the development of its staff both in terms of Wellbeing and Professional Development.

DESS is the premier English National Curriculum Primary School in Dubai catering for over 1000 children.

Our Oud Metha location includes outstanding resources and facilities for all curriculum areas. Each year group has five classes with the average class size being 26. Each year group (FS1-Year 6) has a year leader who is one of a team of five class teachers. Every class in Foundation Stage and Key Stage One has a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) working alongside the teacher, whilst in Key Stage Two, two LSAs work across each year group. The school also has specialist staff in areas including Learning Support, PE, Arabic, French, Performing Arts, Islamic Education, Computing and Wellbeing, who both teach and support the work of the class teacher.

DESS remains the oldest British school in Dubai and, together with sister school, Dubai English Speaking College (DESC) based in Academic City, has been educating children for over half a century.

The school has small class sizes and is extremely well resourced.

This is an opportunity to be part of a team that provides an innovative, exciting and child led education for DESS children. We offer opportunities for ongoing professional development through a range of personalised in house and external training which includes teaching and learning, assessment, inclusion and leadership as well as regular opportunities for career development.

DESS offers a generous remuneration package for teaching staff; including a tax-free salary, accommodation allowance, medical insurance, travel allowance, education for up to two children and end of service gratuity (paid in line with UAE Labour Law).

We are looking for teachers with a passion and a love of teaching and a genuine interest in the inclusive development of the whole child.

Applicants need to demonstrate a commitment to ensuring that learning is a challenging and irresistible experience for all our children and are expected to uphold professional standards and promote the aims and objectives of DESS at all times.

Enjoy looking through our website and becoming familiar with the school.
