DESS - COVID-19 Information

Your support, commitment and resilience throughout this time has been paramount in ensuring that all children in our DESS community have continued to be nurtured, challenged and, as far as possible, excel through our quality educational provision.

Please view the DHA website for more information.

  • Face masks are no longer required.
  • If your child is a close contact and develops symptoms, they must have a formal PCR test. Lateral flow/home tests will NOT be accepted.
  • If the PCR result is positive the student must isolate at home for 5 days. Household members do not need to quarantine, siblings should still attend school.
  • Distance Learning will only be provided for students with a positive PCR test result.

Suspected COVID-19 Cases

It goes without saying, please do not send your child to school if they have any symptoms or who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19. We are committed to working closely with government operations to enact testing, tracing and isolation measures to minimise the impact on learning and potential spread of the disease. We have established an isolation room, which is well ventilated with wipe-clean surfaces.

If a child demonstrates any COVID-19 symptoms, the class teacher or specialist teacher will be responsible for informing the medical team.

Common Symptoms

  • Runny nose
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fever >37.5oC
  • Headache
  • Muscle pain
  • Fatigue

All cases will be followed up by the school's Health & Safety Officer. School will continue to notify parents if their child is considered a contact case.

Please be assured that additional cleaning routines are in place with thorough and frequent cleaning and sterilising of classroom spaces, resources and toilets taking place throughout the day. Every class has its own cleaning ‘kit’ which includes disinfectant wipes and sprays. Teachers will schedule in regular handwashing routines for all children in addition to bathroom visits.

The situation is ever-changing, and we are aware that a huge amount of flexibility will be needed from all involved.

We would like to thank you all for your patience, loyalty and support.
